Grand Canyon Guides Since 1978

Experienced Professionals Since 1978

Diamond River Adventures is one of the oldest,
most established outfitters on the Colorado River.

Grand Canyon Guide   Bill and Pat Diamond moved from Utah to the work camp that would become Page, Arizona, in 1958. Bill was employed as a photographer during the building of Glen Canyon Dam. In 1967, in partnership with Jerry Sanderson, he formed Sanderson River Expeditions. River running grew in popularity, and in 1978 Bill and Pat formed Diamond River Adventures

Bill Diamond in the Grand Canyon   Through the turbulent 1970s, and despite the floods of the 1980s, Diamond River Adventures remained dedicated to providing quality river trips.

The passing of Bill in 1996 brought a renewed focus and enhanced love for the work we do and the service we provide. The company remains headquartered, and the family still lives, in the small northern Arizona town of Page, just a scant mile from the Colorado River.

Diamond River Adventures is unique among Grand Canyon Grand Canyon Women Owned Companyoutfitters in that we are entirely women-owned and managed.

.

Pat Diamond and her three daughters, Helen, Laurie, and Leslie, are the core team that makes the company tick.
Booking a trip or needing help with logistics? Talk to Pat or Helen, then meet them at the get-acquainted session before your trip. Want to ride through legendary Lava Falls with the trip leader? Then hop on Leslie's boat on "Lava Day." Impressed by the meals, the organization, or safety considerations? Then Laurie's the one who gets the credit.

And foremost for the river traveler is the extraordinary group of men and women Diamond employs as guides through theGrand Canyon. At Diamond, every guide and employee quickly becomes part of our family. The people at Diamond River Adventures are professionals, whose top priority is your comfort and safety. We will help with your travel arrangements and provide river equipment. All you need to bring along is clothing and personal items. Our commitment is to assure you have the best trip possible.
Diamond River Adventures is a National Park Service licensed concessioner and a member of the Grand Canyon River Outfitters Association.

 Our Philosophy

At Diamond River Adventures, we believe everyone should have the chance to discover that most sublime of experiences: the Grand Canyon on a Colorado River trip.

Falls in the Grand Canyon   We also believe the way a person travels down the river is secondary to the reality of actually being there. So we offer both motorized and oar trips, varying in length from 4 to 13 days.

We think any amount of time spent in the Canyon will ultimately be too short, and hope the memories you have with us will last until your return. The Grand Canyon experience is a journey during which the Canyon captures your attention every waking moment.

As your guides on this journey, our mission is to help you come to know the Canyon and the river. We will be available to interpret its mysteries and wonders, while still letting you fully learn of its often rugged reality. We promise the rewards will elevate your journey above a mere river trip.

Our Commitment to You – and to the Canyon

Grand Canyon Animal   Diamond River Adventures is committed to providing the highest quality visitor experience by a diverse offering of trips, including some of the most leisurely motorized trips available.
We are also on the cutting edge of ecological conservation and wilderness appreciation. In partnership with the Grand Canyon FlowersNational Park Service, through the Colorado River Fund, additional resource funding, and company cleanups, Diamond works to protect the Colorado River and Grand Canyon year-round. During the river season, we practice a "no-trace" camping ethic, employ knowledgeable guides, and invest in quiet, low-emission motors. All these things help minimize our footprints in the Canyon.

 Our Boats and Gear

On a Diamond River adventure, our boats and other equipment are the key to the trouble-free enjoyment of our guests.

Motor Raft in the Grand Canyon

Diamond River Adventures offers both oar-powered and motorized river trips. Both our oar-powered rafts and our motorized boats are constructed of neoprene rubber, with compartmented air chambers. They are virtually unsinkable. Boats are equipped with built-in storage and completely insulated ice compartments.
Each motorboat is 15 feet wide by 35 feet long and is powered by a 30-horsepower motor. Oar-powered boats are 18 feet long.
For each passenger, Diamond River Adventures provides Coast Guard-approved life preserver, waterproof tarp, tent, sanitized sleeping bag (a clean liner/sheet provided for lower half passengers), mattress pad, eating utensils, watertight metal box for camera and personal day-use items, and waterproof bag for all clothing. Our modern equipment has been selected by professionals specifically for river running. This eliminates guesswork for you and saves the expense of buying gear you might use only once. Also, you don't have to worry about transporting a large load of gear across the country.
